Ladies 3s Shine in Home Triumph

North Down went into Saturday’s clash looking to build on their strong team performance from the previous week, and they made the perfect start when Eve Porter struck early to give the home side the lead.

Despite the advantage, Dromore showed their pace on the counterattack and put North Down under sustained pressure. However, the hosts doubled their tally when Sophie Hoey sent a precise pass across to Libby McMullan, who made no mistake in finding the backboard.

Dromore refused to back down and pulled one back, but just before half-time North Down reasserted their control. A well-worked penalty corner was coolly finished by Ali Best, sending the teams in at the break with North Down 3–1 ahead.

The second half was all about Dromore pressure, as the visitors carved out multiple penalty corners but couldn’t find the finishing touch. North Down weathered the storm and hit back on the break, with Emily Torrens firing home to stretch the lead to 4–1.

Dromore managed a late response with a second goal just before the final whistle, but it wasn’t enough to deny North Down a deserved 4–2 victory.

Fantastic effort from the team. Many thanks to Coach Wes and Judith Orr for umpiring.

Burch Autos Player of the match: Kathryn Rogers.
