Ladies fifths win again!
North Down ladies fifths travelled to the foggy setting at Shawsbridge to play Junior 8 stalwarts Instonians 2nds on Friday night.
After a week off, the first half saw North Down take a few minutes settling into the game with debuts from Rebecca Martin and Rachel Bogie. It wasn’t long before North Down started to dominate with an excellent midfield pass from Ashley Hamilton to a determined Lynsey Stevenson who used her pace and skill to beat two defenders and the keeper finishing beautifully (albeit on her knees) with a diving slap low into the corner. The fifths defence stayed strong with Beverly Brittain at sweeper calling the shots and the first half ended 1-0 in favour of North Down.
The second half saw more of the same end to end play however the Comber girls did have the edge. After being awarded a number of short corners Kathy Taylor finally made contact with the backboard making the final score 2-0 and giving the fifths two wins in a row in their return to league hockey.
Thanks to Amy Jones for umpiring.
