North Down Earn Hard-Fought Draw in Limavady
North Down travelled to Limavady at the weekend, returning to a ground where they had suffered a heavy cup defeat last season. Determined to show their progress, the squad arrived focused and ready for a much stronger performance.
The home side started brightly, immediately using well-drilled set plays and their pace up front to put early pressure on the North Down defence. Despite the fast start from Limavady, North Down gradually settled into the game, tightening their structure and pushing higher up the pitch to apply pressure of their own.
As the first half progressed, Limavady enjoyed the greater number of shots on target, but goalkeeper Anna Parks composed, dealing with everything that came her way. Both teams earned a penalty corner during the opening half, but neither side managed to convert their chances.
The third quarter produced more even play, with momentum shifting regularly. North Down’s defence stood firm, working tirelessly to clear danger and release the ball quickly to the forwards.
