Win number one for ladies fifths

North Down ladies fifths took on Parkview seconds at Comber Leisure Centre in the league on Saturday and although it was great to have a squad of 16 with half the players over 40 and the other half under 20, many were still carrying injuries, so the outcome was not taken for granted./p>

However, it was a great effort from absolutely everyone in the squad resulting in a great match. Lovely passing from a couple of players making their debut for North Down, Sarah Lowey and Liberty Molloy and great to have Zoe Pritchard back running her heart out on the right. She was backed up by Caroline Bond who brought her young family to cheer her on. Ruby Donaldson also did a fine job on the right breaking down any attempt by Parkview to attack. On the left, Ruby Bond, Keri Portinga, Karen Clarke and Freya Wasson did a similarly good job.

The defensive regulars viz Maxine Taylor, Bev Brittain, Ann McBride and Karen Jackson held firm, with goalkeeper Nicki Ferris making some great saves.</p

There was total commitment by everyone on the pitch the whole match and due to the fantastic goals of Isobel Oldham and Marion Sanderson the fifths secured a 2-0 win, their first of the season.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Ruby Donaldson.
