Fourths get 3 points from PSNI

The fourths top of the table clash against PSNI at Stormont on Saturday was a somewhat feisty affair with both teams knowing a win, even at this early stage of the season, would go a long way to boosting promotion aspirations.

The same started well for N Down who took the initiative and created several early chances that went astray! Ā The North Down midfield dominated play, being well supported by the defence, with everything clicking apart from the finishing. Chances for Willis, Millar-Hogg andĀ Mockford went begging, mainly due to the inspired form of the PSNI keeper! Ā The goal came after good play down the right, with Andrew Shannon finishing off a great move to make the score 1-0 at half time!

The second half started well with many chances created but with the score still at 1-0 the game began to boil over and both teams lucky not to lose a player after a few over robust tackles. Whilst PSNI were dominant in the final 20 minutes, seeing the vast majority of the ball, resolute defending by the whole North Down 13 meant a 1-0 victory and 3 massive points!
