Hils’ goal clinches it for fourths
North Down ladies fourths played CI thirds at Comber Leisure Centre on Saturday in a Junior League 3 game.
It was a great match with end to end hockey and some brilliant saves from Linda Marshall assisted by, in defence, Maxine Taylor. After 14 minutes an excellent pass from Rachel Kearns found Jo Irwin who made ground and set Lynsey Stevenson free on the right. Her cross into the circle found Hilary West who scored with a first time touch into the net. This proved to be the only goal of the game as, although CI counter attacked throughout the second half, the North Down defence stood firm with Anna Rodgers playing particularly well at right back. A good team effort meant that North Down held out for three valuable points.
PMB Player of the Match: Hilary West
