Ladies seconds remain unbeaten in league
On Saturday North Down ladies seconds travelled to Havelock Park for their Junior League Two match against Banbridge seconds.
Bann had first pass back but within the first minute North Down won their first short corner which was converted by Ali Millar to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. North Down continued to dominate the first half with most of the play being in the opposition’s end. Just before half time Karen Moore passed a lovely sideline ball into the circle but unfortunately it was just too long for Ali Millar to convert and so it remained 1-0 to North Down at the break.
Bann came out strongly in the second half and were soon awarded their first short corner. Thanks to Laura Campbell’s interception and Alex Boyd’s clearance of the ball the home team were kept out. With a North Down hit out, Emma McAllister made a great run up the line resulting in another visitors’ short corner. Ali Millar’s shot on goal was however deflected off a Bann stick over the crossbar. Midway through the half Amy Jones picked up the ball and had a run into the circle but her shot was just wide of the goal. After North Down failed to convert a third short corner Bann replied with a counter attack to get the equaliser and make it 1-1. North Down failed to convert a few well placed balls across the circle but also defended well against a very physical Banbridge team and were happy overall to come away with a share of the points and remain unbeaten in the league.
