Ladies seconds v Omagh report 1 March
On 1 March the ladies 2nds hosted Omagh 2nds to Comber leisure centre, to face them for the first time this season. Both teams currently behind in games and sitting steady and safe in the table drew the conclusion that it should be an even match.
North Down started confidently with great passing around the pitch and put Omagh straight away on the back foot giving them plenty of goal scoring opportunities some only 2 yards away from the net and still failed to capitalise on all the great play. North Down continued to dominate the play but carried into half time still goalless.
Second half Omagh picked up their play and had the defence twisting and turning but the Comber girls read every play well and carried on feeding great balls up to the forwards, who even after a scamble with Omaghs keeper and the ball on the goal line still couldn’t get on the score sheet. Omagh had a break away play and even with Natasha Morton making a good move of her line for a one on one unfortunately the Omagh centre forward was too quick and slipped it round the keeper. The Comber girls continued to look for the equaliser but unfortunately it was just not to be their day, final whistle brought the game to a close leaving North Down walking away with no points.
With their 1/4 final plate game approaching on Saturday it is hoped they will get back into their scoring ways. Thanks to Mark Parsons with a last minute Friday night call stepped on to do umpire.
