Irish Trophy on Saturday and a possible goalscoring milestone!

It’s the first round of the Irish Trophy this Saturday and it sees the ladies travel to The Maws, home of North Kildare, and the men host Newry who will hope to overcome their disappointment at having last week’s Premier League fixture postponed due to their several last minute Covid diagnoses.

There’s a home game too on Friday evening as the men’s seconds entertain Banbridge thirds at 8.15 pm at Comber Leisure Centre.

On Saturday there’s an opportunity for Andrew Haire to become only the 24th North Down player to reach the 100 mark when he lines out for the fourths at 1.00 pm against South Antrim fourths.  Paddy Power have refused to put odds on the outcome as Andrew has been sitting on this mark since 29 February 2020!  Three other current players are in the 90s – Peter Bond 96, Colin Mockford 95 and Gareth McKeown 93.
