First evening of our Hockey Inclusion Course

Last Friday evening we launched our new 4 session Inclusion Hockey coaching programme at Comber Leisure Centre for young people with learning disabilities or difficulties and it was great to see the involvement of our youth members – well done all!!!

The aim of the sessions is to make hockey more attractive to and accessible for children who do not feel comfortable or able to join mainstream sessions.

Sessions are delivered according to the young person’s ability and all participants will be able to develop their own skills at their own pace whilst enjoying group matches.

Coaches use a one on one “buddy system” where everyone learns to respect each other, involve others and communicate how to win or lose together! Our intention is that this will become a regular feature in our youth coaching schedules in the future.

There are still three sessions to come so if you know of a young person, perhaps a sibling or a family member or even a friend of someone who is already playing hockey. who you think might enjoy the sessions, contact us by email to ndhcyouthwelfare@gmail.com.
