Season best result for ladies seconds

The ladies seconds hosted Harlequins thirds last Saturday at Comber Leisure Centre.  The North Down girls knew it was going to be a tough match with Quins always fielding well drilled teams. They started well and got on the scoresheet when a short corner shot from Kathy Taylor found the back board. North Down were making good plays across the field with sweeper Laura Campbell finding the midfield and forwards well from hit outs however the scoreline remained 1-0 at half time.

The second half saw the Harlequins girls striving hard to get back into the game, but it wasn’t going to be their day. A brilliant run and pass into the circle by Laura Murray found Jenna Hoey who slotted the ball home. North Down furthered their lead from another short corner when the ball was slipped to Caitlin Taylor who scored from close range. The North Down girls finished the scoring when a near diving shot on goal from Trish Neill found the net after a superb run and pass from veteran Julie Fisher. The Harlequins girls had their fair share of chances and were pushing hard to find the net and had a spell of short corners awarded but were unable to convert as the North Down defence cleared the ball each time. The North Down girls were glad to get a well earned 3 points from the match.
