Say hello to our new Club President

Robin Mitchell was elected as the new Club President at the 128th Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024.

With a long history at the club, Robin has been a member since the age of 15 and has served in various roles including Match Secretary, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Chairman, and Captain of the first XI.

Robin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Club President, stating, “I joined North Down Hockey Club as a 15-year-old schoolboy and have remained a member ever since. Along with David Adgey, we started youth development about 30 years ago.”

Robin also continues to manage the Club’s pitch bookings, which is a huge undertaking as well as creating the hugely popular annual fixture booklet.

His election as Club President has been met with enthusiasm and support from members, who are looking forward to his guidance and support for the club. Robin’s dedication and experience within the Club make him well-suited for the role, and members are excited for the future.

Robin replaces Jennifer Patterson, who has stepped down as President this year following a long tenure in the role. Jennifer has been Ladies’ Secretary, past Secretary of the Ulster Women’s Hockey Union and was the first female President of the newly amalgamated Ulster Hockey Union in 2010.  We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jennifer for her service and commitment to the Club.
