Honours even for ladies fifths in Holywood

North Down made the short journey to Strathearn to play a league game against a 16 strong Holywood seconds.  A few returnees from university augmented the visitors’ numbers and they got North Down on the attack early in the game putting pressure on a tough Holywood defence. Julie Fisher prompted a number of sorties into the home circle but these led to nothing.  Just before half time the eager Holywood attackers caught out the high lying North Down defence to go ahead 1-0 at the break.

After a motivational half time team talk, the visitors’ midfield and forwards pushed on and won penalty corners galore which eventually ended with Leona Clifford scoring the equaliser.  There were chances at both ends but no further goals so the points were shared.
