Ladies seconds still winless!

North Down seconds travelled to Banbridge for a potentially tricky match against Banbridge seconds. In what is proving to be a competitive league the North Down team had drawn the last 2 matches against Lisnagarvey and Queens.

Despite a team talk stressing shape and discipline the first half proved a disappointing affair as North Down let Banbridge rattle them and dictate play.  An uncharacteristic mistake let Banbridge pounce to take a 10 minute lead and this was further compounded when the visitors were caught on the counter attack to go two goals behind. North Down started to exert some pressure later in the first half and Ashleigh Hamilton was unlucky not to score when her shot was somehow cleared off the line.

Following a strong team talk at half time North Down started the second half more brightly taking the game to Banbridge and winning a number of short corners. The pressure eventually told when Ashleigh Hamilton deflected the ball into the net from a strike into the circle by Laura Campbell. The game then opened up and the Comber girls pushed hard for the equaliser and were unlucky not to score with minutes left when a chance went narrowly wide.

This was a disappointing result which can be put down to the most disjointed 30 minutes of the season but the blend of youth and experience has made the seconds a difficult team to beat and their focus is now to add more goals to their game.
