Slow Start Costs Ladies 1s in 2–0 Defeat to Coleraine

North Down Ladies 1st XI endured a challenging opening quarter against Coleraine Ladies 1st XI, falling two goals behind early on. Coleraine opened the scoring from a short corner, converting with a well-executed drag flick that left the home side with little chance. The visitors then doubled their advantage moments later with an excellent strike from open play, taking full advantage of their early momentum to make it 2–0 by the end of the first quarter.

Despite the difficult start, North Down showed impressive resilience and responded positively for the remainder of the match. From the second quarter onwards, they grew into the game, pressing higher up the pitch and moving the ball with greater confidence. The midfield worked tirelessly to link play and create opportunities, allowing the forwards to make strong runs and apply pressure.

North Down enjoyed sustained periods of possession and created several promising chances, but were unable to find the finishing touch in the final third. Coleraine defended well, while North Down’s own defensive unit showed great discipline and organisation, ensuring no further goals were conceded after the opening quarter.

North Down continued to compete with intensity until the final whistle, showing determination and teamwork throughout. Although they were unable to convert their chances, the performance after the early setback provided plenty of positives despite the 2–0 defeat.
