Raphoe Fight Back from Behind to Defeat North Down
North Down opened the match with real intent, dominating early possession and setting an energetic tempo. Their pressure paid off midway through the first quarter when Rachael Murphy produced a composed, clinical finish following a beautiful weighted pass from Andrea Mockford, giving North Down a deserved 1–0 lead.
The second quarter saw North Down continue to press Raphoe, forcing several turnovers and earning a handful of penalty corners. Despite the sustained pressure, the Raphoe goalkeeper stood firm, to keep the deficit to a single goal at halftime.
Raphoe responded in the third quarter with renewed purpose. After winning a penalty corner, they capitalised to level the score at 1–1. The momentum shifted, and North Down were forced onto the back foot for the first time in the match.
The fourth quarter brought further pressure from Raphoe. They took the lead through a moment of individual skill, though there was some debate from North Down over a possible Raphoe foot outside the circle in the build-up, a hesitation that left North late to react.
As the clock ticked down, North Down pushed forward searching for another goal opportunity, but with only a few minutes remaining Raphoe earned another penalty corner after finding a foot in the circle. They converted confidently, extending the lead and securing a 3–1 victory.
