U15 Boys Just Miss Out in Banbridge
By Terry Ritchie
After recent excellent wins against Civil Service and Belfast Harlequins the u15 team travelled last Sunday to play Cup favourites Banbridge . This was always going to be a difficult game and Sunday was no exception . Banbridge attacked from the start and controlled the game with excellent passing and after 15 minutes led 2 0 . The young North Down players struggled to cope with the movement and pace of the Banbridge forwards and midfield players.
The team as a whole worked extremely hard defensively and gradually came more into the game as the half progressed . After a positive half time team talk the players produced an excellent second half performance. The work rate, skill level and determination could not be faulted. Mid way through the second half Toby Fynn scored an excellent goal with a rasping shot into the left hand corner. The game now opened up and North Down created several chances from both open play and short corners . However time ran out before the equalizer could be scored and a relieved Banbridge team move on to the semi final.
Frazer Cairnduff in goals had a superb game and was well supported by Andy Boyd , Jamie Orr and Jonny Linter in defense. Kai Jenkins, Toby Fynn and Josh Gilmore were superb throughout and the coaches were delighted with the overall performance.
Many thanks to all the parents and supporters who have followed the team throughout , what has been a successful season.
