North Down Held to 2–2 Draw in Entertaining Final Home Clash with Raphoe
North Down played out an entertaining 2–2 draw against Raphoe in their final home fixture of the season.
The hosts started brightly and were rewarded in the first quarter when Sophie Leckie converted a well-worked penalty corner flicking the ball into the net, giving North Down an early lead. Raphoe responded strongly, growing into the game and finding an equaliser to level the score in the second quarter.
North Down regained their advantage through Connie Magee, who showed great composure in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, calmly finishing to make it 2–1. However, Raphoe continued to apply pressure and were awarded a penalty stroke, which they converted to bring the game back to 2–2.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive goal. In the end, it finished all square, with North Down taking a hard-earned point from their final home game. North Down now prepare themselves for going into the final of the Irish Hockey Challenge Cup on Sunday against South Antrim Hockey Club.
