Comfortable win for ladies thirds

Last Saturday the ladies thirds hosted CIYMS thirds at Comber Leisure Centre. Following on from the previous week’s loss against Raphoe the team knew that an improved performance was required.

The home team started strongly and immediately put CI under a lot of pressure. North Down produced some great team work, passing the ball out to the wings and running down the side lines and winning a number of penalty corners. The first few were unproductive but North Down’s first goal came from skipper Kirsty McCrory who received the ball across the circle and placed it nicely in the corner. This was shortly followed by Laura Murray with a straight strike from the top of the circle to make it 2-0.

Throughout the rest of the game each team had their fair share of penalty corners from which neither team could capitalise on. North Down remained in control throughout and their last two goals came from Rhiannon Davis from open play. Lots of passing between Sarah Taylor, Leah Drysdale and Kenzi Fisher helped Rhiannon find the back of the net to get her first two goals for the senior club. Goal keeper Nikki Ferris kept everyone on their toes whilst Laura Campbell dominated the right hand side of the play. Great effort from all the girls and overall a fabulous team performance.
