Ladies fifths just fail to hold on
The ladies fifths played at Regent House hosting Dromore fourths on a wet and wintry Saturday afternoon. A solid start from the home side saw an early goal from Trish Neill who skillfully converted the first goal of the game to maintain her second place in the ladies goalscoring charts – quite a feat for the first eleven goalkeeper! Continued effort from the back line to the front put pressure on the Dromore ladies which ended just on half time with a beautiful pass across the circle from Abby McCague to Leona Clifford who put the ball on the back of the net.
The second half commenced with Dromore attacking hard and putting pressure on the North Down fifths defence. Despite the best efforts of the home team, Dromore got back into the game to make it 2-2. North Down fought back hard and had numerous attempts at goal but left themselves open at the back. Dromore took full advantage of this with a breakaway goal as full time approached to head home with full points.
