Mens fourths in cruise control

North Down fourths were at home to Portrush seconds in a top of the group League Cup clash.

A fast tempo start from North Down was rewarded with two early goals and the game was virtually over not long after it started. Cultured hockey from the home team continued for the rest of the half, even walking one into the net after at least ten one two passes the whole way up the pitch.

The scoreline was 4-0 at halftime and the game was put beyond doubt 4 minutes after the break when Andrew Haire turned on a six pence and slotted home low into the corner. North Down saw the game out with very few moments of concern the star of the day being Jonny Green who worked tirelessly all day and was rewarded with a goal and an assist which meant he more than deserved his Player of the Match tag.
