Ladies thirds pay for slow start
North Down thirds travelled to Ballymena seconds for their third fixture of the season. Following last week’s 3-0 win against Larne seconds the travelling side were ready to take on the strong Ballymena side.
Within the first 30 seconds of the game Ballymena got past the North Down midfield and defence and took a very early lead. Eventually North Down woke up and began to fight back but soon after Ballymena gained their second goal of the game after play down their right hand side. North Down then went down to 10 players after left wing Kirsty McCrory picked up an injury and was unable to continue. From this point on North Down really picked up their game and fought for every single 50/50 ball and applied pressure to the Ballymena defence.
After half time the visiting side were determined to get onto the scoreboard as the whole team put on an incredible second half performance. An excellent effort was made by all but they were unable to make inroads against a strong Ballymena team and when the final whistle blew the score remained 2-0 in favour of Ballymena.
