Ladies firsts still looking for first win

Following a heavy defeat mid week away to Dungannon in the Ulster Shield, North Down ladies faced their opponents again in Comber in their first Premier League match of the season. After a solid first ten minutes cracks began to show in the North Down defence and Dungannon capitalised by scoring their first goal. North Down settled back into the game however within 5 minutes Dungannon scored two goals in quick succession to effectively close out the game and leaving North Down 3-0 down at half time.

At the start of the second half North Down came out in a more determined fashion.  Some good play from Hannah Lewis found Jenna Hoey on the right wing and her cross found Rachel Lucas for her first league goal of the season.  However, within a minute Dungannon restored their three goal cushion when a lapse of concentration in the home defence brought Dungannon back to 4-1. The second half thereafter was an evenly matched affair until Dungannon managed to slip one more goal past North Down.

Afterwards, Coach Peter Whyte commented that it was a vast improvement from the mid week match and the ladies look forward to entertaining Mossley at home this Saturday.
