Girls’ Under 13s Finals Day
North Down Under 13 girls took part in the end of season finals day at Lisnagarvey recently and with an early start the girls were raring to go. Unfortunately they started the day with a narrow 1-0 defeat against Mossley however this seemed to fire the girls up and led to victories against two strong Randalstown and Saintfield teams with Sarah Moreland getting the goals. The two remaining group games both finished scoreless with the result being that the girls narrowly missing out on the cup semis by one point and took part in the afternoon plate competition.
Again the Comber girls were slow off the mark and failed to capitalise against the weaker teams as just missing that final drive in front of goal resulted in two more goalless draws. They once again began to pick up the pace against the more challenging teams and were very unfortunate not to qualify for the semi-finals.
Thanks to all the under 13’s for all their efforts throughout the season in their training as well as representing the club so well in the tournament days and of course to the parents for the support all season. As our coaching has now ended I want to wish good luck to all the girls who will be moving up next year to under 15’s and I’m looking forward to watching their development throughout the club.
