Ladies seconds run continues
North Down 2nds 2 – 1 Dungannon 2nds.
North Down ladies seconds entertained their Dungannon counterparts at Comber Leisure Centre last Saturday and made a strong start with some of their best hockey of the season.
The mid field controlled by Ali Millar provided excellent service for the forwards to run onto but unfortunately they were unable to capitalise from any of these. With Dungannon being quick on the break the defence was kept on their toes however good communication starting from Laura in nets enabled North Down to keep the visitors at bay. Julie Fisher made the breakthrough when she received a pass at the half way line and was able to take the ball to the circle to finish with a reverse hit to place the ball into the back of the net.
Coming out after a positive half time talk the home team again started strongly putting a lot of pressure on Dungannon’s defence and they were unlucky not to go further ahead following a series of penalty corners. Finally from a break Dungannon brought the game back on level terms at 1-1. But the North Down girls never gave up, kept the work rate going and eventually Jenna Hoey was able to score to restore the lead and to keep their winning streak going.
