Men’s fourths get important points against Cookstown

On Saturday the men’s fourths hosted Cookstown fourths knowing that they needed 3 points to get their season back on track after a disappointing run of games. The hosts started brightly keeping possession and moving the ball well around the pitch. They got a deserved breakthrough when, after a number of shots in a row were saved by the Cookstown keeper, the ball fell to Ben Willis who put it in the net. Cookstown responded but the fourths weathered the storm to reach half time in the lead.

After half time Jonny Proctor scored from a Jamie McKee assist from the right, when he put a reverse shot into the bottom left corner to make it 2-0. Cookstown responded to make it 2-1 but after that the fourths played the best hockey of their season so far and Cookstown could not keep up. Proctor then made it 3-1 after another nice finish for his second of the game. The fourth came from some good work down the right wing by Andrew Haire who unselfishly passed to Martin Moreland who easily dispatched it into the net.

The win was a much needed boost for the fourths as they fight to stay in the league and will give them confidence for the next run of games.
