One Goal Defeat for Ladies 2nd XI

The ladies seconds this week travelled to play Ballymena seconds at the Showgrounds with the home team kindly supplying two umpires. With a hard fought win against them before Christmas and losing out on a key player to the first eleven, alongside with regulars not available a lot of reshuffling of positions were needed, just to make the match that wee bit more challenging.

The Comber side came out all guns blazing in attacking mode with a lot of good passing and link up play. The match was very high tempo from both teams having end to end action. Ballymena struck first with 20 minutes into the 1st half with the one and only goal of the match, after a good counter attack. The comber girls played out the 1st half 1-0 down.

With a positive talk and a few tactics changing, North Down went out determined to get a goal back. The defensive team of Hannah Bates, Rebecca Walker, Judith Orr, Karen Jackson and Kathryn Rogers dealt well with any attacks that came their way. The midfielders consisting of Rebecca Brown, Laura Campbell and Rachel Lucas worked tirelessly to help and move the ball up the pitch providing and creating chances for the forwards of Natasha Adamson, Charlotte

McKee and Shannen White who proved just unlucky not to get the final touch on the ball. Due to so many positional changes the Comber girls all put in fantastic performances all round and hopefully the hard work will show in next week’s match.
