North Down Fall Short in Crucial Clash with Limavady

North Down welcomed Limavady to Enler knowing that three points were crucial, with the visitors currently sitting above them in the league standings.

The home side adopted a different structural approach for this encounter and it paid dividends early on. North Down dominated possession throughout the first quarter, moving the ball well and controlling large spells of play. Despite their territorial advantage, however, they were unable to convert their pressure into clear-cut opportunities inside the circle.

Limavady, meanwhile, looked dangerous on the counterattack. Their pace on the break caused problems for the North Down defence, and after earning several penalty corners, the visitors were eventually awarded a penalty stroke. Limavady made no mistake from the spot, capitalising to take the lead.

At the start of the third quarter, North Down focused on simplifying their play, working with short, sharp one-two passes to regain control and build momentum. The adjustment helped steady their performance, but Limavady continued to threaten. Goalkeeper Alexia produced a series of fantastic saves, keeping the home side in the contest when the defence came under sustained pressure.

As the game entered its closing stages, North Down pushed hard for an equaliser. Their persistence earned them several penalty corners and a penalty stroke, but the visiting defence held firm, with the stroke well saved to deny the home side a deserved breakthrough
