North Down 3rds Fall to Clinical Armagh
North Down 3rd XI welcomed Armagh 3rds in the next round of the Junior Plate, with the home side making a bright start to the contest. North Down applied early pressure on the Armagh defence and earned several penalty corners, but were unable to convert their chances.
Despite North Down’s positive opening, it was Armagh who opened the scoring from a penalty stroke. The visitors then began to settle into their rhythm and, although North Down continued to break down play in open passages, Armagh proved clinical from set pieces. Two well-executed penalty corners saw Armagh take a commanding 3–0 lead into the half-time break.
North Down adjusted their approach at the start of the second half, focusing on maintaining possession and building play more patiently. However, Armagh struck again on the counter-attack, adding a fourth goal after a quick break.
The home side continued to battle and were rewarded when Judith Orr pulled a goal back for North Down, giving the crowd something to cheer. Armagh responded with a fifth goal to seal the result, progressing to the next round of the Junior Plate with a 5–1 victory.
