Ladies 3s Fall Just Short in 3–2 Battle Against NICS 2s
Ladies 3s made the short trip up the road to play NICS 2s. North started as the stronger team and were rewarded with a goal from Emily Torrens from a short corner in the first quarter. Service came out fighting in the second quarter and evened the score line with the half finishing 1-1.
The North Down girls returned to the pitch after half time and remained focused. A well placed pass from Judith Orr up the pitch allowed for some gorgeous passing hockey from the North Down forwards with Sarah Taylor finding the back of the net. North Down were up 2-1. Service continued to apply pressure and were again rewarded with a goal to even the score line again 2-2.
The last quarter seen both sides with chances on goal and North were unfortunate not to capitalise. Luck was in NICS favour, scoring a game winning third goal with North unable to even the score before the final whistle. Final score North Down 2-3 NICS.
The North Down girls played some lovely hockey and should be proud of their performance and determination.
Special thanks to Sophie Stewart for umpiring.
Player of the match: Natalie Harrison for an outstanding performance in defence.
