Valuable points for ladies thirds

North Down ladies thirds hosted Dromore thirds at Comber Leisure Centre last Saturday knowing that they needed to win the game to keep them safe from relegation and also make amends for their 3-0 defeat in Dromore earlier in the season.

The home team set the pace for the game and put pressure on the Dromore defence from the first whistle. Dromore were quick to react to free passes and gained a number of penalty corners during the first half but these were cleared by Rebecca Webster and Helena Press. North Down utilised the pace of their midfields to pass the ball from the left over to the right where Jasmine Frazer got the first goal of the game.

Going into the second half, Dromore were becoming frustrated that their chances of equalising were being cleared by the North Down defence. North Down’s second goal came from Flo Rebbeck who was found in the circle by Connie Magee. North Down spent the remainder of the game defending penalty corners and breaking down the Dromore attacking play. A fantastic effort from the whole team kept the score at 2-0 and a step closer to safety.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was shared by Karen Moore and Helena Press.
