Ladies go down to a strong Randalstown team

North Down ladies entertained visitors Randalstown in a home fixture at Comber last Saturday.

North Down started faster and were on top in the first quarter creating more chances and putting Randalstown under substantial pressure. In the second quarter they eventually got their reward with Jenna Pliauga receiving the ball in the circle and skilfully reversing it into the bottom corner.

However, it was a different story in the second half as Randalstown turned the game around in their favour scoring two quick goals in the third quarter.  Undeterred the home team went on an all-out attack in the final quarter. A defender was taken off and an extra forward put on to stay high with the aim to play direct hockey. This however left them open at the back and Randalstown scored another three goals in the final quarter.

This was a tough scoreline for North Down to take and one they will use as motivation for this Saturday’s trip to Coleraine.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Kirsty Boobyer.
