Tough start for ladies fourths

The ladies 4s met with Dungannon thirds at Regent yesterday.

It was a tough match from the onset with Dungannon taking a very early lead, completely catching us unaware. We continued to battle their assault on our D with the defence of Ruby Donaldson, Cara Mcconnell, Jill Jack, Natalie Harrison and Anna Carvill working their socks off. The first quarter ending 0-2.

We regrouped for the second quarter and saw a huge improvement with some great forward press from Keziah Dines Kate McClughan, Heidi Logan and Zoe Pritchard. A short corner saw Ruby Donaldson reluctantly coming up to strike from the defence (before the game she’s assured us she didn’t do short corners). And wow- she certainly does now! A textbook strike into the bottom corner saw us on the scoresheet.

But Dungannon we’re strong and very slick and despite the best efforts of all the defence and midfield of Erin Gamble, Emily Torrens, Izzy Myles and Caroline Boot, we couldn’t hold off the ongoing onslaught on our D, eventually going down 6-1. We fought hard against a strong Dungannon squad with lots of positives to take forward to the next game.

Joint Burch Autos Players of the Match were Cara McConnell and Ruby Donaldson.
