Dromore too strong for ladies fifths

North Down Ladies fifths took on Dromore fourths on Saturday at Regent House having been playing really well recently and were therefore optimistic of a good result.

With a squad of 14 players, including Annalise Burnside making her senior debut after playing for our under 15s, North Down started well with Marion Sanderson, usually forward, playing centre mid and passing the ball to right wing Zoe Pritchard. Zoe made one of her super fast runs down the line and pulled the ball back across the goal line but unfortunately no one was there to tap it in.

Dromore counter attacked, won a corner and although Linda Marshall in goal saved the shot, Dromore scooped up the rebound and a gap on left post meant the score was 1-0 to Dromore.

North Down tried hard to equalise and in the second quarter a brilliant run from Sarah Gratton linking with the other forwards, Lottie Wilson and Ruby Bond resulted in Sarah firing the ball into the net. However, Dromore then were awarded another corner almost immediately and again the ball went past the left post to make it 2-1 just a few seconds before the end of the quarter.

Despite winning a few corners in the second half North Down couldn’t convert any and Dromore managed to get a third goal to make the final score 3 – 1

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Sarah Gratton
