Kirsty’s triple secures ladies thirds first win

Last Saturday North Down thirds carried the momentum from the previous weeks away draw at Raphoe and got three glorious points at a bottom of the table clash against CIYMS. Kirsty McCrory got the scoreboard activated in the second minute picking up a well timed hit across the circle to find the back of the net. Four minutes into the second quarter McCrory scored again after a shot from Leah Drysdale was saved.  Strong defence at the back from Laura Campbell and Keri Portinga gave the home team few scoring opportunities and North Down were well in control making it 2-0 at half time.

Laura Murray’s goal 12 minutes into the second half secured the win but in an attempt to save her shot the CI keeper fell badly and had to be substituted.

Sarah Taylor worked her socks off to score 10 minutes into the final quarter making it 4-0 and this was quickly followed by Kirsty McCrory sealing the deal and notching her first Hat-trick for North Down. A quick break in the closing minutes from CIYMS meant goalie Ashleigh Gorman actually had to do some work and saved a one on one but solid work from the Comber defence meant CIYMS struggled to get into the circle and North Down ran out easy 5-0 winners.

Burch Autos Player of the Match was Kirsty McCrory.
