Girls just lose out in Under 15 cup

North Down Under 15 girls played really well on Sunday against Harlequins in the cup. It was a dynamic match with end to end action. The final score was 3-2 to Harlequins and we wish them luck in the next round.

The first goal was 4 minutes into the game when Harlequins hammered a goal home. North Down didn’t take this lightly and one minute later equalised with a pass from Elle Moore finding Erin Tumlinson who lodged the ball firmly between the posts. At 10 minutes into the first half a penalty corner to North Down gave them a 2-1 advantage. Harlequins fought back hard and another penalty corner just before half time made the half time score 2-2.

After half time the weather deteriorated with rain and poor visibility, but no excuses, same for both sides. A strong break from the Harlequins forwards resulted in a cracking goal making the score 3-2. North Down fought back valiantly but couldn’t find the back of the net in the second half. During the second half they held onto the ball a little too long and didn’t play the excellent passing game they can. Grace Davis in goals made excellent saves and clearances throughout the game. The team were an absolute credit to North Down in attitude, commitment and performance with sterling work in the midfield from Abbie Webster and tireless tackling at sweeper from Tilly Neill earning them joint players of the match.

Thanks to Kathy Taylor for the report.
