Ladies fourths in second half fade

North Down fourths travelled to the Joey Dunlop Centre to face Ballymoney thirds in a league game and for once did not get soaked or frostbitten!

There were many changes for a new look North Down team and the new players Jill Jack, Megan Davis, Tori McKay, Annie Haughey and Holly Whiteside all impressed in the match. Emily Irving on the left wing made some good runs but North Down were unable to capitalise. Ballymoney were strong on the attack and won a number of penalty corners but solid defending from Anna Rodgers, Beverley Brittain and particularly centre back Ann McBride kept the score at 0-0 at halftime.

Ballymoney upped the pace in the second half.  Despite Lynsey Stevenson running her socks off in central midfield and Haughey and Whiteside chasing every ball up front, the home team’s pressure finally paid off as they scored two second half goals without reply and ran out clear winners.

PMB Player of the Match:  Ann McBride
