Ladies seconds narrow loss at Dromore
On Saturday, North Down Ladies seconds travelled to Dromore to play their counterparts who are directly above them in the league. There were a few new players this week with a few of the regulars unavailable or needed elsewhere. North Down took a little while to settle into the game and allowed Dromore to apply pressure from the starting whistle. Just as the North Down girls were starting to settle, Dromore got on the scoresheet when a shot from the edge of the circle found its way into the back of the net to make it 1-0 at half time.
At the restart the North Down girls started to come into their own with play being much more fluid and the visiting side found their way up the pitch and pressured the home sides defence and keeper. Despite their improved efforts, the North Down girls went down 2-0 after a well worked penalty corner by Dromore. With 5 minutes remaining North Down fought their way back into the match when Anna Smith scored during a scramble in front of the net. The match ended 2-1 but with a much improved second half performance from the North Down girls. A good match to play and an excellent effort made by all.
PMB Player of the Match: Anna Smith.
