Anderson Cup Round 1

North Down travelled to Ballynahinch on Saturday to play Hinch in the first round of the Anderson Cup and recorded a comfortable 8-1 victory.They now progress to play Cliftonville in Round 2.

North Down dominated play from start to finish but it was Hinch who surprised the visitors in the 8th minute.Graham was allowed to attack the circle and his reverse shot eluded McArthur at the near post.North Down had many opportunities to equalise but the final pass was not accurate enough.They won a number of corners but Sheppards efforts were either well saved or wide of target.With about 10 minutes remaining Poots equalised when his flick from ,a corner deflected in of the keepers pads

The second half saw North Dwon camp in the Hinch half and it was no surprise when Poots put them ahead when he calmly slotted home with the Hinch defenders claiming an infringement.Poots then set up Dalzell for number three.Shortly afterwards Dalzell got number four.With holes appearing in a tiring Hinch defence Jack Bond making his debut for the firsts added two further goals when he was in the right place at the right time to slap home.Gilmore also making his debut added number seven when he flicked over the advancing keeper.Jordan Linter completed the scoring when he unleashed a reverse from the top of the circle which got deflected into the roof of the net.This was Jordans first senior goal and the celebration showed his relief and disbelief.
