Ladies seconds run continues
North Down seconds entertained Lisnagarvey fourths last Saturday at Comber Leisure Centre hoping to keep up their winning spell.
They started out on the front foot immediately putting pressure on Garvey’s defence and soon scored from a great ball in from Ali Campbell which reached Julie Fisher on the post. North Down kept the pressure on and this resulted in another goal from a short corner where Jenna Hoey took a straight strike and Naomi Mitchell picked up the rebound off the keeper. Five minutes from half time North Down added a third goal when Olivia Brown picked up a pass from Bethan Brittain to find the corner of the net.
Two minutes into the second half, Sophie Clements made the game safe for North Down at 4-0 with her first goal for the club and shortly afterwards Julie Fisher got her second to make it five. On 55 minutes a run from Sophie Clements led to Olivia Brown sweeping the ball into the net to make it six. Lisnagarvey’s heads dropped and North Down took full advantage in the last 10 minutes as Laura Campbell added a seventh and Olivia Brown completed her hat trick with a fine individual goal where she lobbed the ball over the keepers head on the reverse leaving the keeper stranded.
Big well done to Olivia and her hat trick!! And thank you to Laura Clarke for umpiring!
