Good away win for ladies seconds in Dungannon
On Saturday North Down ladies seconds travelled to Dungannon seconds for an early 1pm start. With no school girls available and last minute call ups from the first eleven the Comber girls travelled with just 11 players.
The game started evenly but as it progressed North Down began to pile on the pressure with the mid field working hard to feed the ball into the circle. However, a quick break by Dungannon left the North Down defence outnumbered and they won a short corner which was converted with a deflection.
North Down came back fighting and gained their first short corner. An accurate push out from Julie Fisher found Ali Millar at the top of the circle and her strong shot also took a slight deflection for the equaliser at 1-1 at half time.
Dungannon set out to be more physical in the second half and the match became scrappy. With North Down continuing to apply pressure in the Dungannon circle the visitors had a number of opportunities to go ahead and finally Julie Fisher found the corner of the net with a straight strike from the top of the circle for the decisive goal.
The hosts fought back for the equaliser but the North Down defence stood firm and held out for three valuable points.
