Membership Information

We welcome new members in our Men’s, Ladies’ and Youth Sections. Here you will find the training times of our various teams and our Club’s annual subscriptions.

The competitive hockey season runs from September to April, with all teams training regularly throughout this period. Pre‑season begins in July or August, depending on each squad’s schedule. During the off‑season (May to July), we continue to stay active through veterans leagues, friendly matches and in‑club competitions.

Our Youth Section trains from early September until the end of April. We also run summer hockey camps during the school holidays, which are open to both members and non‑members.

Our Men’s Section includes both our Senior squads (1st XI and 2nd XI) and our Junior squads (3rd, 4th and 5th XI). Training times are listed below.

Senior Men

Monday Nights – Comber Leisure Centre – 7.00pm to 10.00pm
Wednesday Nights – Comber Leisure Centre – 8.30pm to 10.00pm

Junior Men

Wednesday Nights – Comber Leisure Centre 8.30pm to 10pm

Youth Section

Please note our Youth Section is currently closed to new members for the 25/26 season. We will re-open for new members during the summer months (updated 27.01.26).

We have a vibrant Youth Section open to players from P1 through to Year 11. Our age groups and training times are as follows:

Comber Leisure Centre – Sundays 

U7 Boy & Girls: 1.00pm – 2.00pm

U9 Boys & Girls: 1.00pm – 2.00pm

U11 Boys: 2.00pm – 3.15pm
U11 Girls: 2.00pm – 3.15pm

U13 & U15 Boys: 15:15 – 16:30

Comber Leisure Centre – Fridays 

U15 Girls: 6:30pm –8.00pm

Comber Leisure Centre – Mondays 

U13 Girls: 7.00pm – 8.15pm

Membership Fees

(*) Family membership is defined as –  One or more parents, of whom at least one should be a senior playing member, plus any children under 18 in the household.

Subscriptions are due on 1 September each year and MUST be paid by 31 October.  Members, except those in the Youth categories, whose subscriptions are unpaid by 31 October 2025 will be suspended and not selected until payment has been made. 

Subscriptions to North Down may be paid by:

Electronically directly into our bank account.  Sort code 98-04-45, a/c 64788082.  Please ensure that your payment can be identified to you.  Three or four payments between July and September will spread the load at the discounted rate or you can set up a 12 monthly payment also at the discounted rate.

Cash or Cheque.  Make your cheque payable to ‘NORTH DOWN HOCKEY CLUB’ and pass the payment to either your team captain or Kathryn Rogers, Honorary Treasurer.

We do not operate a ‘pay and play’ system as an alternative to paying a full sub.  However. we will consider this option for a senior member who is only able to play occasionally, in which case the match fee payable on the day is £15.00.

Youth Coaching – Each youth section category has a costs budget and youth coaches will receive an appropriate reduction to their annual subscription in line with the budgets.

Important Information: Hockey Ireland Membership

All playing members, new members and casual players must re-register their annual membership with Hockey Ireland. The fees have increased and are now price locked for the next three seasons through 2026/27. The fees are as follows: Senior membership (players 18+) is £26 and Junior membership (players under 18) is £17.50. To register or re-register, please visit https://hockey.ie/membership/.
