The fourths began the home game with Portrush seconds last Saturday knowing that victory would see them rise to top of the table in what is proving to be a very competitive league.<\/p>\n

The game began at a fair pace with tackles winning the day and plenty of passes misplaced and it wasn\u2019t long before Jonny Green got in on the act with a good strike to make it 1-0.<\/p>\n

Suddenly for the first time in a few weeks confidence levels were high, passes were going strongly to stick and Green added a second minutes to press home North Down\u2019s early dominance.\u00a0 When Colin Mockford converted a short corner to make it 3-0 on 17 minutes followed by a Chris Drysdale piledriver one minute later the contest was effectively over.<\/p>\n

With the flow of the game going towards the home side, chances were now coming from all angles with the marauding Shea Kelly, particularly impressive at right back, and Sam Brown managed to convert on the reverse to make it 5-0 at half time!<\/p>\n

Upon the restart, the visitors enjoyed their best spell of the game creating a number of openings but with the experienced triangle of Graham, Mockford and Nicholson all particularly in solid form, they couldn\u2019t make the breakthrough!<\/p>\n

Shannon and Rea were guilty of missing chances to add to the score but, with such a strong midfield, the home side continued to create lots of chances! Barr and Brown\u2019s passing was pinpoint and with Rea and Irwin buzzing about creating space for the forwards further second half goals came from Shannon, Brown and the impressive Kelly.<\/p>\n
