A solid first half outfield performance and a typically gung-ho display in goals from repurposed one-kneed left back\u00a0Andy Walls\u00a0(\u201cMake yourself big and scary Wallsy\u201d we said, forgetting that you only need the \u201cmake yourself big\u201d part. The other bit comes for free) saw us head in for tea and bickies a respectable 1 goal down.<\/p>\n
But, even with a defence densely packed with weapons grade hair-dryers, sage advice dispensers and the notorious hyperactive gobby rage-merchant\u00a0David Shepherd, our Jo Baer-style bench arrangements began to take their toll. First to fall,\u00a0Jamie Orrr\u00a0flapping around in the dugout like a landed fish with a vicious case of \u201cgasping for air\u201d quickly followed by the Shepster – \u201cMY LEG IS SORE!\u201d he bellowed, and before our ears had stopped ringing, \u201cMY LUNGS HAVE GONE MISSING!\u201d (before you ask he has a backup pair, but they\u2019re only for bellowing).<\/p>\n
So, lungs collapsed, throats closed over, calfs melted, hamstrings went \u201cping!\u201d and in leaked another (look away now faint hearted readers) 7 goals. But not before something more unexpected than a bombing raid by the Luftwaffe\u2019s Schwein Luftflotten – a two goal haul from that elusive (training-wise anyway), all singin\u2019, disco dancin\u2019, ex-goal preventin\u2019 outrage against hockey\u2026electronic drum break please, maestro\u2026Adam Tatee. Both goals ably assisted by Tatey approved supplier recently off the market\u00a0Scott Moore.<\/p>\n
Final score 8-2 but lots of positives for the season ahead – new league, new players (well done\u00a0Scott Irwin, welcome back\u00a0Andrew McGimpsey and Paul Adgey and for limited time the peanut lunged, gammy legged Shep) and new arrangements (Friday night lights).<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve two weeks off now so get down to training, get \u2018yer subs paid.<\/p>\n
