Double Tatey\u2019s beer allowance from one pint per goal to two, watch the flood gates open and progress to the next round of the cup. It\u2019s such a simple plan. His first half one goal deluge from a pass by \u201cTatey Approved Supplier\u201d Paul Adgey (trading as\u00a0Paul Work<\/a>\u00a0on the advice of his accountant) was enough to give 2s a rare but very deserved win over a stacked Garvey side who added to their teeming bench regularly over the course of the first half. I wonder where those guys came\u00a0from? They seemed to know a lot about the Garvey 2s game earlier in the afternoon.<\/p>\n

Towards the tail end of the week things looked grim from the friendly but moody lighting of some of Amsterdam\u2019s more relaxed establishments. Shorn of the services of Goal-a-tolla\u00a0Scott Moore<\/a>\u00a0(cruelly cut down by disease – wear pyjamas and keep the heat in next time), defensive gravity-well Mockey (en-route to Scotland – by freight), Magee and Paul Adgey (ageing infrastructure), Mike Orr (tree climbing) and a keeper of any kind (work! romance! permission denied! etc) – there was nothing for it but to order another cocktail and become \u201cdark\u201d.<\/p>\n

But, with a new sunrise comes new hope! Adgey\u2019s knee recovered Wolverine-style (a bit like the McGimpsey hamstring earlier in the season).\u00a0Jordan Linter<\/a>,\u00a0Jonny Linter<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Keith Conway<\/a>\u00a0cried \u201cwe will stand with you!\u201d (well, \u201c\u2026for a half\u201d in Keithy boy\u2019s case).\u00a0Chris McSherry<\/a>gritted his teeth, looked dramatically into a passing breeze and proclaimed \u201cI. AM. A\u2026KEEEEEEEPER!\u201d.<\/p>\n

Building on last weeks fantastic but ultimately Gimsville performance the forward line of\u00a0Stephen Forrest<\/a>,\u00a0Mark Shannon<\/a>, the irrepressible Tatey and the occasional Jonny \u201cyeah, I can play up front\u201d Linter set about Garvey for all they were worth. The midfield of Paul \u201cThe Bomber\u201d Adgey and his fighter escort of\u00a0Steven McGimpsey<\/a>, Jordan Linter and Jonny \u201cactually, I can play anywhere\u201d Linter made their opposite numbers day a complete misery. Jordy in particular gave the Garvey skipper a pretty good idea of what it must be like to have a particularly vicious ferret down his trunks. The defence were awesome to a man. Andrew “bone-cruncher” Boyd, Chris \u201cattacking centre back (!)\u201d Speers, Allen \u201cThe Wolfman\u201d Irwin (head of mop-up operations), Keith \u201cLazarus\u201d Conway, Ally \u201cMockey who?\u201d Hunter and last but in no way least Chris McSherry – not only a keeper as it turns out but a very, very good keeper.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve said it before and I\u2019ll say it again \u201cthe bloody league boys!!!\u201d\u2026anyway – to the next round!<\/p>\n
