Following on from requests to assist developing umpires within Clubs, Ulster Hockey in partnership with the Umpires Committee have arranged a number of workshops in November across the province.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The purpose of the workshops is to offer support and guidance to all club umpires, no matter at what level, in order to assist, develop their skills, improve confidence, and attain consistency in decision making and rules interpretation.<\/p>\n

The format for the workshop will be as follows:-<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Introduction<\/li>\n
  2. Pre-match preparation<\/li>\n
  3. Areas of control & Positioning \u2013 Open play\/Penalty Corners\/Penalty Strokes.<\/li>\n
  4. Communication and control \u2013 Cards, Signals, Verbal, where to send suspended players.<\/li>\n
  5. Game Management \u2013 Players\/Benches\/Spectators.<\/li>\n
  6. Identifying and explaining offences<\/li>\n
  7. Areas of Difficulty \u2013 self pass, free hits, aerials, 5 metres, obstruction, etc<\/li>\n
  8. Code of Conduct<\/li>\n
  9. Question and Answer session<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    ***<\/strong>\u00a0You will be expected to have a basic knowledge of the rules of hockey. \u00a0This is NOT a rules test.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0However rules interpretations will be discussed, along with club umpire support.<\/p>\n

    Cost: \u00a0<\/strong>\u00a315 per person<\/p>\n

    Places are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis and will only be confirmed upon receipt of payment.<\/p>\n
