James has just completed his second season at our Club, but let him tell you all about it!<\/p>\n

When and where did you first play hockey?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I started playing hockey at Regent House in year 8. I initially fancied myself as a rugby player, however D Robb recommended I was more physically suited for hockey.<\/p>\n

Have you played for any other hockey clubs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

None, the others are too far away\u2026. Ards Peninsula things.<\/p>\n

How long have you been at North Down?<\/strong><\/p>\n

18 months, joined the club late 2018. I took a break from hockey after leaving school.<\/p>\n

Do you have any personal ambitions in hockey?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Progress to a tournament final and win (No specific tournament)<\/p>\n

What has been your best moment at North Down?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Attending two training sessions in the same week.<\/p>\n

Who has been your favourite player to play with at North Down and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Early days at the club but I\u2019ve enjoyed playing with Andy Walls\u00a0– aggressive, passionate\u00a0and skillful.<\/p>\n

What is your least favourite team to play against?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I least enjoy playing against this team due to their indiscriminate in-game torrent of verbal abuse aimed at fellow team members, umpires, fans, people, pets\u2026 you name it!!<\/p>\n

HOWEVER, this team has always been the reason to purchase sports insurance.<\/p>\n

What other sports are you interested in and do you play any other sports?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am a keen follower of all sports two wheels. However, my longest sporting passion is racing motocross bikes (unsuccessfully).<\/p>\n

What is your favourite personal sporting moment and a favourite all time sporting one?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Personal – Winning the Young Farmers novice Tug-Of War competition at Balmoral Show in front of friends and family.<\/p>\n

All Time -Watching Ireland beat England (24-15) to win the 6-Nations on St. Patricks day in 2018 \u2026 very good day for Guinness sales!<\/p>\n

What is the best holiday you have ever had?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I visited the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show for 4 days with a few Young Farmers pals, ask me about this trip over a drink.<\/p>\n

Covid-19 got me thinking Bangor sounds ideal atm\u2026 ideal location pre 2020 – Universal Studios, Florida.<\/p>\n

What type of music do you like?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve a soft spot for old school country (Alan Jackson OG) but anything you can boogie to gets the nod.<\/p>\n

What is your favourite TV programme?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Punisher, guaranteed action every episode.<\/p>\n

What is your favourite movie?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dukes Of Hazard, some scenes not for watching with family.<\/p>\n

Have you a favourite book you have read again?<\/strong><\/p>\n

SAS Rogue Heroes \u2013 The Authorized Wartime History by Ben Macintyre. I haven\u2019t re-read this book, but it is a book I have lent to many other keen readers and enjoyed in depth discussions about the antics and bravery of the founding SAS gentlemen. ** Contains a detailed write up on Newtownards local Blair \u2018Paddy\u2019 Mayne.<\/p>\n

What is your favourite food and drink?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sirloin (Medium) and Guinness.<\/p>\n

Full cream, semi-skimmed or skimmed milk?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Full Cream, but whatever is at hand.<\/p>\n

If you could invite four people, living or dead, to a dinner party who would they be?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Iron Mike on the door, Frank Abagnale and Winston Churchill for stories during courses, then Dave Chapelle funniest comedian, FACT!<\/p>\n

What have you been doing to stay fit during the coronavirus break?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Giving others Kudos on Strava, with the odd few strides in between myself.<\/p>\n
