North Down seconds travelled to Ballymena seconds last Saturday needing to come away with all three points to secure their league position.<\/p>\n
\u00a0Ballymena started out strongly and were quick to beat North Down to every 50\/50 ball pressurising the visitors in defence but their final shots were wide of the mark.\u00a0 Ballymena eventually went ahead when North Down were caught out ball watching and a Ballymena player was free on the post for an easy tap in. North Down finally got the message and with good possession resulting in good attacking play their hard work paid off with the award of a number of short corners.\u00a0 None of these produced a goal however and the seconds went into the break 1-0 down.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The half time team talk fired up the North Down side to use their speed and skill to get round the strong Ballymena side. Gaining another short corner for their efforts, the Comber girls finally made the breakthrough with a well worked corner.\u00a0 Charlotte McKee slipped the ball to her left to Amy Jones who moved it on to Laura Campbell on the post to blast the ball between the keeper’s legs. Ballymena then became more robust in their play assisted by a lack of strict umpiring and the Comber girls had to take injury after injury but fought on regardless. The game ended in a 1-1 draw and it has to be said this was the toughest point for North Down to gain so far this season and they look forward to the return fixture in Comber.<\/p>\n
