Ladies 2s fall to Larne 

In a competitive clash against Larne this evening, the Ladies 2s unfortunately fell short, losing 3-0. Despite the disappointing scoreline, there were moments of promise that highlight the team’s potential.

The match started positively with North Down taking the game to Larne. The early pressure created several opportunities, showcasing the team’s determination and attacking intent. However, North Down failed to convert the sustained pressure into goals.

As the game progressed into the second quarter, Larne found their rhythm, displaying a relentless workrate and their solid press had North Down pinned deep in their defensive half, struggling to find an outlet out. Larne capitalised on their opportunities, scoring twice in quick succession to take a commanding lead, that would prove difficult to overcome.

The third quarter proved to be a turning point, as North Down seemed to lose their momentum and focus, allowing Larne to control the game and further exploit the gaps in defense. Thanks to some strong defence and some excellent saves by the North Down keeper, the score line remained into the final quarter.

The third goal from Larne in the latter stages of the match effectively sealed the game. Despite the scoreline, North Down fought hard and showed resilience, desperately looking for ways to break through Larne’s defense.

Faye McCann was a standout performer, earning her the Player of the Match award for her relentless effort both in attack and defence. Her contributions were evident as she consistently pushed forward and in an effort to creat chances for her teammates.

While the final result was not what North Down had hoped for, the strong start and the spirit shown by the players provide a solid foundation to build upon for future matches. The team will look to regroup as they prepare for next week’s game against Dromore.
