Ladies thirds come back to draw
This week the ladies thirds hosted top of the table South Antrim seconds at Comber Leisure Centre. Following on from the defeat last week to Dromore, North Down knew they had to start this game on the right foot.
The visiting team proved to be very pacy and dominated the majority of the first quarter putting the home defence under great pressure. South Antrim got the first goal of the game early on from a penalty corner. Throughout the second quarter North Down fought back and applied the attack to the South Antrim circle but couldn’t win anything.
South Antrim got their second goal of the game very quickly after half time from a straight strike at the top of the circle. North Down knew they had to work hard to get onto the scoreboard and soon won a penalty corner where Rhiannon Davies found the back of the net to make it 1-2. Going into the final quarter the home defence stayed strong and broke down the attacking play. Great one two passing was had between Cara Murray and Tess Griffith and after a play around the circle Rhiannon slotted the ball past the South Antrim keeper to make the scores even. Both teams fought until the final whilst but settled with a point each.
